Hello, my name is....

Maribel Chilaca

Picture
I am currently a sophomore at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication in Phoenix, Ariz. My everyday life consists of running, attending college and being with my family while enjoying a nice game of soccer. At a young age, I learned what it meant to be a reporter, and in that instant my goal was to become one, but the best. It is never too late to dream, and nothing is ever impossible and for that I try to reach for the stars. People come and go, but the ones that make an impact are those that will be remembered forever; I am determined to become one of those people who many can say, "Yeah, I want to be just like her!"

I am a senior at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications in Phoenix and am majoring in print journalism. I grew up in Minnesota and transferred to ASU after my freshman year of college. Through internships and courses at Cronkite, I have been able to expand my knowledge and skills pertaining to writing, editing and communicating and have come to realize that my main professional goal is to continuously grow as a writer and journalist. I look forward to utilizing everything I've learned and experienced after I graduate and begin my professional career.

My name is Emma Kathleen Jarrett. A student at Arizona State University studying Journalism with a specialization in Public Relations at The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Originally from Minnesota, I came to Arizona to escape the cold and  be closer to my extended family. In 2005 as an 8th grader, I attended a media workshop at The University of Missouri-Columbia. Put into small groups in a classroom setting, I was taught the basics of putting a package together. After the quick over-view I was sent out on the campus streets to film, interview, edit and out together a package. The experience was extremely difficult for a 13-yr-old but it sparked my ambition to become a Journalist.

I am currently a sophomore at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications in Phoenix, and I am a public relations major with a minor in non-profit organization. For almost 20 years I have called Arizona my home. Over those years I have established a love hate relationship with the state, and almost all of the hate resonates from the heat. My love comes from my liking of the metropolitan area, and all the culture that resides there. Although I still have a few more years left at ASU, my childhood goal of wanting to take over the world has yet to change.

I am currently a sophomore at Arizona State University. I am enrolled in the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications in downtown Phoenix. I am attending this school in order to become some type of sports journalist, whether it be in the print or broadcast side. This would be my ultimate job, considering I am a huge sports enthusiast, my friends often describe me as a sports nerd. I know that a job in the journalism area is hard to come by and I remind myself of that by working hard in everything I do. I’ve been taught to try your hardest in everything you do because you don’t want to settle for nothing but the best. Even though sometimes I slip away from that path, I am never far from it.
